This can't really be done without some serious hacking of the theme files or of the css framework (bootstrap).
Not something I can really support either as it will throw off javascript in the carousels.
If you only have a few specific things you want to change I might be able to help with that.
Any reason for it? What device to you feel at 500px wide is not worth viewing in a single column?
